Yardening 2003

This is a very nice native rose bush that I do NOTHING to but water and prune. It's called Belinda's Dream.

Here are a few more pictures of the nice roses from this bush taken in late June... the 2nd time so far this bush has bloomed...

I'm very happy with these irises... thanks mom!

A resident of my iris bed.

The front flowerbed with daffodils, tulips, impatiens and more! It was pretty while all in bloom, but they don't last forever. See the long leaves in the center? This is a lily that blooms in July!

I've dug all the bulbs up and put in some more full sun, heat tolerant flowers and plants. Just don't ask me to name them!

This is called Ageratum

This one is Mexican Heather

verbena? verbena?

The yellow flowers are Melampodium. They didn't last.

And now the centerpiece has finally sprung up...

See a short video of the lily with 3 of the 4 blooms open.

This next area of my flowerbed is kind of my "put it in the dirt and see if it grows" area. I'll transplant the stuff from here elsewhere after I get an idea of what it's like.

Turkscap and fern... they don't appear to like it where they are though when I dig at the ferns, the roots look very healthy and the turkscap have not died, so they're staying put for now. sedum
This Sedum appear to be doing quite well! I'll probably move them just as soon as I figure out where!

On to the backyard... I've just completed building the back fence and am beginning to put the decorations on it. Flower boxes, hanging baskets and bird houses!

It should be pretty nice when I'm done!

Plumbago, Chrisanthemum and Hibiscus are in the flowerboxes.

And now for my garden
This year I only planted tomatoes and jalapenos. I started late, so here it is July and they're still with their first blooms. Not even any little fruits yet. Click on this picture for a map of what's planted where.

Grandma and Granddad Hudnall gave me some Pear tomatoes at the beginning of June. Some of them are doing great and some are still as small as they were when I got them.
This rose bush is also in my garden for now, though it will be moved after the fall bloom is over.

Can you see all the buds not yet open on this bush? This bush exploded one week later. Take a look!
