Joshua's Picture of the Day

This is the main page for Joshua Ryan. (The background is courtesy of the Grandmas who sewed a very cool comforter for the crib!)

There was much to do when we learned of Joshua's imminent arrival. There were doctor's appointments, shopping, reading... There were classes to take and videos to watch. It was a busy time and it went by so quickly! The coolest part was all the doctors appointments where we could get a sneak peak at Joshua. The sonograms and the fetal monitors allowed us to see and hear our baby boy before he was born!

Many of our coworkers, friends and family began to plan showers. We had 4 in all and we were completely overwhelmed in gifts and blessings! Lots of pictures were taken at these showers... enough that I've set up a different page for all of them! View Joshua's Shower page!

This was his birth announcement

Tabitha made these with her stamps and creative memories stuff. Grandma Myers filled in all the details.

Joshua was born 2 weeks and a day overdue by C-section because he was so big. (I have pictures of Joshua during the C-section ... just think about that before you click on the link... you've been warned. (pic1 and pic2) Tabitha labored (and I froze) for almost 12 hours without dilating or effacing at all. He came screaming, kicking, peeing and pooping at 6:38 PM. I was able to be in the OR during the operation and see everything there was to see.
The grandparents, Uncle Stanley and Aunt Mel and "Aunt" Lori Enriquez were anxiously waiting outside for us to come back down the hall. Joshua was able to calm down and take right to the breast... the first feeding was for a solid 52 minutes! He was incredibly alert and did a lot of staring. His entire first week was spent in the hospital adjusting (and being adjusted to). Since the hospital doesn't have a nursery, he stayed in a bed with us. Dad slept on the floor. Mom developed an infection and had to have IV antibiotics until they were sure she was ok. We passed the time with company. The grandparents (both the Millikans and the Myers) made sure they got their turns ogling their first grandson. It's pretty neat seeing the 3 generations of firstborn sons.

We arrived home and tried to settle into the new routine of sleep, eat and play. We had some company during our first week... our friends the Hasses came over with their 2 month old Elijah. The Great Granparents Millikan came over to dote on their third great grandchild and the next day, Grandmommy Carsrud came to visit.

Joshua has a very cool nursery to grow up in! See it here!

He grows so fast! He's changed so much in this first month. You may be able to tell by looking at his pictures. There'll be a different album for each month this year with a selection of pictures. I'll send regular updates through our mailing list so be sure to sign up for that!
